Universal DataPipe
| Ease of data exchange is the key to integrating ODBC data sources with mobile and other add-on applications. Managing what data is pulled out and where external data gets written too is of critical importance. Traditionally this has been done with custom export/import programs. Unfortunately, creating custom programs for each data source and mobile/add-on application combination can be time consuming, expensive and especially troublesome when software updates introduce variables that require the custom programs to be re-written or modified. | ![]() |

Why did we create Universal DataPipe? Universal DataPipe eliminates the need for custom import/export programs. Universal DataPipe can be used as middleware to inter-connect the ODBC data sources of a multitude of commercial or custom applications. Universal DataPipe eliminates the need for a separate step to move data between ODBC data sources by becoming an integral part of the synchronization process through API calls. Record Building not just Field Mapping Universal DataPipe’s record building tool lets user’s link fields from an ODBC data source to any field in another applications ODBC data source. But more than just mapping, using Universal DataPipe you can build complete records for insertion without programming or additional processing. We accomplish this by letting users configure lookups to other tables and by supporting default values for required fields. This means that even fields that don’t exist in the source application can be populated in the target with correct information during the data exchange process. Scheduling, Filtering & Pre/Post Process Execution Another feature of Universal DataPipe is that it allows configuration of the synchronization frequency; on a table by table basis. This gives the user complete control over when and how often data will flow between the two data sources. Also, it’s possible to setup data filters to limit what data is passed from one source to another. Filters can be added using our easy to use interface and multiple filters can be applied to a table. It’s even possible to specify what field in a source table indicates the record has changed. This change flag can then be applied during data exchange to only process records that have been added or modified since the last sync of that table. This greatly reduces the number of records that get processed. Furthermore, Universal DataPipe can be configured to execute programs or call stored procedures (in either the source or target data source) before, during or after the synchronization process. This gives the user unprecedented control of data exchange and data source integration process. Easy to Use Universal DataPipe works with most industry standard ODBC drivers and is very easy to setup and use. In fact, just about any application that uses an ODBC accessible data source can use Universal DataPipe for moving data into and out of its database. Custom programs for data exchange maybe fine for infrequent or one time use, but when Import/Export is on-going and dynamic, such an approach is not the best solution. Universal DataPipe can truly inter-connect ODBC data sources and automate the task of moving data between the two environments. |
